![]() And the ride is a bit more smoothed than the Vendetta because of the carbon taking the zing out. I can bomb down big hills without a lot of stress. I can crawl up hills at 4mph without a lot of stress. And it's low speed handling is super easy. The Carbent on the other hand doesn't have any design limitations around the BB, so I've got plenty of low-end gearing for my size. The new Vendetta v2.0 reportedly has steering geometry tweaks which may have corrected the high speed downhill handling, not sure. Not to mention it was a bit of a handful to handle at those low climbing speeds. I concede that someone lighter weight than me could do just fine in the monster climbs with the available gearing, but for me it didn't work. This is a design limitation of the Vendetta because of the way the chainstays clamp around the BB cups. On monster climbs, even with a compact double and an 11-36 rear, I just didn't have enough gears to spin my way up. The achilles heel with the Vendetta for _me_ (I'm 6'4", 240#) was with high speed descents - I could never get a confident in-control feel above 30mph, even after 2k miles - and low-end gearing. Although I'm beginning to adapt my climbing technique on the Carbent and am getting faster (with bridging and higher cadences). ![]() The drivetrain on the V is just rock solid. On "normal" grade hills (up to ~8-10%) the Vendetta was a little faster. I would say on the flats they are equal for speed.
